Italian Lakes - Day 6 - Desenzano to Tremezzo

A leisurely start at 8.45 this morning, although a couple were late, but they caught up.  it was a leisurely drive to Brescia, to the "Museo Mille Miglia"

This is a race over 1000 miles round Italy, and was done from 1927 to 1957.  the museum is in an old monastery, and the story of how all the old race documents & results were found and have been digitised is fascinating.  The race is still done today but there are very strict criteria, on the age & make of the car.  (Celebrity chef James Martin competed in 2008 & BBC made a programme of it).  Some of the cars in the museum are still used in classic car races today.

Just a small selection of the cars in the Museum.
After a nice coffee in the Tavern is was what is now becoming compulsory - the group car photo.

Now it was time to head off to the San Marco Pass - "more spirited driving I guess!!"

Drove through the valley with more stunning scenery, and stopped at the bottom of the pass as Mark had a noise coming from one of his back wheels.  After a few minutes realised there was nothing anyone could really do, so as the road was clear we asked if we could continue up the pass to the meeting point at the top.

This was another adrenalin high - spectacular views on the way up. & from the top.

Time for lunch and a coffee.

After lunch some people were seen washing their cars in the car park 6500ft up a mountain I ask you !!!!

On the way down we started off as car 6, to say the least a "spirited" drive down the pass by several people.  In the end there were 3 of us - Ferrari, 911 4S & us, Martin recording the trip on the GoPro.  To say the least I felt a bit "green" at the bottom, and later found out that several of the other passengers did as well.

Pulled in to a small coffee cafe at the bottom of the pass and the owners face when we pulled in to the car park was a picture - nice coffee as well.

It was then a much calmer drive to Lake Como , and along the shore to our Hotel in Tremezzo.

It was raining when we agreed to meet up so had a drink on the verandah and waited till the rain stopped, and then walked down in to the village & found a very nice restaurant - even gave the men who were eating spaghetti bibs !!

Another vey nice evening

Arrived back at the hotel at 10.50 in time for a night cap, but the barman was miserable & would not serve any of us a drink even though the bar was supposedly open till 11 pm - said he had to get the tables ready for breakfast.

140 miles driven today
1208 miles total
