Left home this morning just before 09.30 to drive to Beachy Head to meeting other members of PCGB (Porsche Club Great Britain) R23 (Sussex Region) for a drive round Beachy Head, to our final destination at the Village of Ashburnham. This is our first drive out with the Club.
Over the next 45 minutes a total of 18 cars turned up at the designated car park at Beachy Head.
At about 11.30 We all left in convoy driving carefully and did two circuits of Beachy Head before branching off down the hill and along Eastbourne seafront. We continued along the the coast to Pevensey Bay, and then turned inland across Pevensey Marshes to Hurstmonceux and to our final destination in Ashburnham when the Newbury Cricket Bat makers are.
All the cars parked up, some in the barn, others outside, we were then given a tour of the workshops and shown how the bats are made. This was very interesting, and the people they have hand made bats for - the list is long.
Lots of "Porsche" chat and some very scrummy jacket potatoes and chilli washed down with a large selection of beverages.
All donations for the hospitality were for Sussex Air Ambulance.
A total of 120 miles driven today.
